Velocity’s Family Medicine research site in Hampton partners with Hampton Family Practice to conduct clinical trials related to general medicine and infectious diseases. Typical studies at this site involve medications for acne, diabetes, high cholesterol, and other conditions. This site also performs vaccine studies for people of all ages. Acquired by Velocity in 2022, the Hampton location was founded earlier in 2022 as part of Meridian Clinical Research.

Through the partnership with Hampton Family Practice, the site is easily accessible to thousands of patients around Hampton and Newport News, including those established with the practice and diverse populations. All trials are performed in accordance with ICH and FDA guidelines, and in compliance with GCP.     Thomas Piscitelli, D.O.

    Principal Investigator
    Thomas Piscitelli, DO, MS serves as Principal Investigator, overseeing all Velocity trials in Hampton. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Piscitelli has over 30 years of experience practicing medicine, specializing in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Emergency Medicine. Prior to his career in medicine, Dr. Piscitelli received his BA in Chemistry from Hofstra University in Long Island, NY and his MS in Medicinal Chemistry from SUNY Buffalo. He worked in the biomedical side of clinical research before eventually receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, located in Maine. In addition to his time in Maine and New York, he has spent time in New Jersey, worked in Michigan for his Internship and Residency, and started practicing in Michigan before joining the VA Hospital network in Virginia in 2009. Most recently, Dr. Piscitelli was an Internist at Langley Air Force Base, a position he said allowed him to take care of those who take care of us at home.
