The Need for Eczema Research
Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic skin condition characterized by itchy, inflamed patches of skin. One of the most common skin conditions, the disease typically affects the face, neck, upper arms, back, hands, and/or feet. An estimated 10% of adults and up to 20% of children suffer from eczema. It can lead to discomfort, irritation, and emotional distress. While there are treatments available, managing eczema can be challenging as it varies from person to person. By studying the condition, scientists aim to better understand its causes, triggers, and effective treatments.
