About this research study

Velocity is enrolling overweight individuals with or at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease for a research study. This study is intended to capture cardiovascular outcomes of participants who receive an FDA approved weight loss medication or placebo.

Eligible participants...

Must be age 18 and older
Must have BMI of 30 kg/m² or greater or 27 kg/m² with the presence of at least 1 weight-related comorbidity (i.e. high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes)
Must be at high risk of cardiovascular disease or heart problems with at least 1 of the following:
- History of heart attack
- History of stroke
- Coronary artery, carotid artery, or peripheral artery repair/restoration
Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, high cholesterol/triglycerides, or is a current smoker.
Must NOT be taking any other bupropion-containing products (including, but not limited to, Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL, and Aplenzin)
Must NOT be taking weight loss prescription medications other than Contrave or Mysimba (including, but not limited to, Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Trulicity)
Will receive compensation for study-related time
Do not need insurance to join this study

While participation in a clinical study is voluntary, you may be paid for study-related time. After you submit your information, a Velocity enrollment specialist will call you to talk about the study. Staff at the research clinic will discuss possible payment with you.
